Professional radiation therapist: your way from theory to practice 2025

Radiation therapy is a rapidly evolving field that requires not only theoretical knowledge but also strong clinical practice, multidisciplinary teamwork, and continuous professional development. To ensure that new graduates and prospective candidates are adequately prepared to meet the demands of clinical practice, we establishing a 1-month structured internship program for Radiation Therapists under the guidance of expert trainers.

• Provide comprehensive, hands-on training in radiation therapy techniques and patient care.
• Facilitate a structured transition from academic knowledge to clinical application.
• Enhance multidisciplinary collaboration and communication within the oncology team.
• Build a pipeline of well-prepared, competent, and confident radiation therapists ready to integrate into the workforce.

The internship will run for 1 month (4 weeks), divided into focused training modules:

1. Orientation & Foundation (Week 1)

• Introduction to the department workflow, safety protocols, and patient communication.
• Overview of radiation oncology team roles and responsibilities.

2. Technical & Clinical Training (Weeks 2-3)

• Patient preparation, immobilization, and simulation procedures.
• Treatment planning basics with medical physicists.
• Operation of linear accelerators and daily treatment delivery under supervision.
• Quality assurance and radiation safety practices.

3. Advanced Practice & Integration (Weeks 4)

• Managing pediatric and complex cases.
• Independent supervised practice to build confidence.
• Evaluation and feedback sessions.

Demonstrate competency in patient setup, treatment delivery, and safety practices.
Understand the workflow and interdisciplinary collaboration within radiation oncology.
Apply evidence-based practices in clinical decision-making.
Transition smoothly into a staff radiation therapist role with reduced orientation needs.
